Vaginal Laxity

banner

Vaginal laxity (VL) is a sensation of vaginal looseness which may develop after pregnancy and vaginal delivery and may be affected by prior pelvic surgery, menopause and ageing.

Causes of vaginal laxity
  • Vaginal child birth
  • Advancing age because of diminishing estrogen levels
  • Vaginal trauma
  • Genetic disorders etc
Symptoms/Diagnosis
  • Lack of awareness is one of the main reason due to which it is not reported and females overlook symptoms also by taking it casually.
  • Loss of sensation
  • Decrease in sexual satisfaction
  • Stress urinary incontinence (leakage of urine on pressure like coughing sneezing etc.)

These are some important symptoms leading to loss of confidence, hence should not be ignored.

Treatment
  • Kegel exercise & some herbal creams (but does not work for everyone)
  • So the most definitive treatments are:
    • Surgical vaginal tightening
    • Non-surgical using laser/ radiofrequency (latest modalities)
    • Radiofrequency has  the upper edge over LASER for vaginal tightening with no downtime.
